An Austin native, Dr. Michael Millstone returned to Central Texas from his psychiatric training and practice in New York City to establish Brain and Behavior, PLLC.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin Plan II Honors Interdisciplinary Program, Dr. Millstone went on to attend medical school at the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio. There he was awarded the Fuller-Giffen Award for excellence in the area of Psychiatry.

Michael Millstone, MD completed his four year Psychiatry Residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center program in New York City. As Chief Resident of Psychiatry Education, Dr. Millstone took on a central role in training the next generation of medical students. In recognition for his achievements in teaching, Dr. Millstone was awarded the Leo M. Davidoff Society Medicine Award.

He next completed a one year Albert Einstein College of Medicine University Scholars Clinical and Research Fellowship in Integrative and Complementary Psychiatry with a focus on mindfulness and exercise. Dr. Millstone also completed a year long Fellowship in Psychoanalysis from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Education, affiliated with New York University (NYU). After working for the Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Millstone brings his skills back to the Central Texas community as a private practice psychiatrist in Austin.

A published bioethicist, Dr. Millstone is also a two-time winner of the UT Health San Antonio Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics Holt Bioethics Essay Award and recipient of the international Australasian Association Max Charlesworth Prize in Bioethics.
